Travelling.
The best way to go to Phuket is to take a flight there, it'll take around 1.15 hr. If you take a bus, it'll take around 11 hrs. I think it's too long.

The prices are not much different, but if you take Thai Airways or Bangkok Airways, the prices will be considerable higher.
You may book the flight via the websites as above.
I would reccommend to take the earliest flight in the morning so you can also have time in the afternoon to spend there.
From the hotels in Silom area to the Bkk. Airport, it'll take around 1 hr.
From Phutket airport to your hotel, you may take a taxi from the airport. In average ,If I'm not wrong the price should be around Baht 500 - 800. it'll take around 45 min.
Accomodation & tours
If you like to stay at a nice admosphere & location with convenience, I would recommend to stay at " Kata beach" there are many hotels over there.
Personally, I always stay at " Kata Beach Resort"

If you like night life, colorful atmosphere like Pattaya, you may go to stay at " Patong Beach" so many hotels there, you can check with " hotels Kata beach" on Google for more information.
So many choices regarding hotels there, I don't know how to advise.
When you stay there , the hotel will also have 1 day -trip tour brochure puting at the lobby.
The tours will be like ;
- Phuket City tour , they'll provide a van bringing you to Phuket City, tamples, shops, mountains and so on.
- Snockeling, Diving : they'll bring you to the sea for diving. Or visiting beautiful irland.
- Also adventurous activities.
So many choices, up to your taste.
I always prefer going to the sea, diving or irland.
The best way is to ask the receptionist for the brochures. By the way, You don't need to book it in advance. You can book the tours when you check-in , just ask the receptionist they'll advise you.
In addition, If you'd like to survey the area or the city by yourself. There'll be rental motocycle shops there neayby the hotels, the rate for 1 day is approx. Baht 400.
You can rent the motorcycle and ride along the beach or go to Phuket City.
Don't forget to take Phutket tourist map from Phuket airport when you arrive there, it's helpful when you ride the motorcycle.
