Why can't I purchase all the tickets for my journey from ÖBB?
ÖBB tries to make available as many tickets as possible that are required for your complete journey. However, it may not be possible to provide all tickets for your journey, sometimes for technical reasons, sometimes due to certain fare policies. Therefore, it might occur that ÖBB (at present) cannot or is not allowed to offer you tickets for certain sections of your journey. The ticketing application is designed to detect such missing sections in order to offer you the longest possible coverage for your journey, even though said parts may be left out. There are several possible reasons for this to occur. Let us try to explain some of them here:
At present, it is not possible to purchase the tickets for regional operators (e.g. VOR in Vienna) in the ÖBB online and mobile ticketing systems, because these tickets are not accepted as valid tickets by the operators.
In certain train types, which cross the Austrian border on their route, online tickets are not accepted as valid tickets. Therefore, it is not possible to purchase tickets for such trains in the online ticketing system.
At present, it is only possible to purchase tickets from and to certain countries in the online ticketing system, in some cases uninterrupted tickets for the complete journey are only available for journeys with their start or destination in certain cities within such countries (e.g. Katowice, Warsaw and Kraków in Poland).
